Need help?

In this section, you can address common questions efficiently.

How are videos captured?

VHS tapes are played in their entirety while I use an external recorder to capture the video and audio.

How much does it cost?

The price will be dependent on the clients needs, which is why every experience it tailored to what the individual is requesting. Please contact for more info.

Do I repair tapes?

Currently, I do not. This includes, but is not limited to, splicing magnetic tape. To ensure the safety of your memories, I do not perform physical repairs on snapped or "eaten" tapes. If a tape arrives in a condition that prevents a safe transfer, I will notify you immediately. I value the integrity of your memories too much to risk further damage, and I’m happy to recommend specialized restoration services that handle complex physical repairs.

If a tape is found to be damaged and cannot be safely digitized, I offer a full refund for that tape and will help you with where to go next.

Why I don't offer full repair: Analog media is incredibly intricate. I maintain my playback equipment to high standards to ensure they safely play tapes that are in good condition, but I choose not to risk a client's "only copy" on a physical repair I'm not 100% confident in.

I do, however, offer "cassette swaps": If a tape's internal reels are healthy but the plastic shell is cracked or the door is broken, I can attempt to transfer the reels to a known working cassette housing to facilitate a safe transfer.

What sets me apart?

I deliver low cost, personalized solutions, ensuring that every customer receives top-tier service tailored to their needs.

How can my data be secured?

Using tools such as Bitlocker on Windows, and FileVault on Mac. I can provide support for Bitlocker, but not FileVault as I do not use MacOS.

What support do I offer?

I provide data repair on the backup drive if needed. We will provide instructions on how to safely use the flash drives to minimize data loss.

Can my tapes be damaged?

Given the nature and intricacies of how analog media is stored and played back, there is a small chance of tapes being damaged prior to being played. In most cases, it's a damaged VHS tape. We thoroughly clean and maintain our playback devices to minimize damage. However, if damage is found to be on my side, I offer a full refund of all services included and will direct you on where to go next.
